The Cybercrime Policy Foundation is a research based organization that is working on the issues relating to legal and regulatory approaches for regulating cybercrimes as also activities done with criminal intentions over computers, computer systems, computer networks and communication desire devices.
Cybercrime Policy Foundation is a foundation that is dedicated towards doing research pertaining to legal issues impacting cybercrime across the world. Cybercrime as a phenomenon has gained tremendous currency over the last one decade and with each passing day week month and year, new and emerging kinds of cybercrimes are coming to the forefront. Infact cybercrimes have travelled a long distance from the time when the World Wide Web was invented till today. Cyber criminals have also constantly got have kept of been updating their technological skills in a manner that best helps them used the internet and the network for the purposes of perpetuating their criminal activities.
Keeping in mind the need for having an international network for cybercrime regulation, the council of Europe started working on an international treaty. This treaty is known as the Convention on cybercrime of the Council of Europe. This is the only successful international treaty pertaining to cybercrime. More than 45 countries have already signed the said convention. Contrary to public belief, the said convention is not just limited to member countries of the Council of Europe. Even countries outside Council of Europe have signed the said convention.These countries include Canada, United States of America, South Africa and Japan.
The purpose of the Foundation is to encourage more research on the legal and policy related issues pertaining to regulation of cybercrime at the global and national levels.
Cybercrime Policy Foundation hopes to be the place for research of emerging legal trends pertaining to regulating cybercrime as have occured in various different jurisdictions and how the same are likely to impact other countries where adequate cybercrime legislation do not exist.
